Venturing

 A Convergence of Crews

On March 9th to 11th the WLACC put on their first ever, joint Council Venturing Leadership Skills Course (VLSC) training session at Camp Josepho, Pacific Palisades, CA.  The course was completely taught by venturers from three crews in the council (Crew 22, 223 and 464).  In tandem with the youth training, the Adult Venturing Basic Training (AVBT) course was offered to the crew's Advisors and other interested leaders. When all was said and done, 24 youth completed the VLSC training and 10 adults completed the AVBT training!!!  More importantly, the Venturers from the various crews got to know each other quite well, having fun both during the training, and during the open time periods.

Following the completion of the training sessions an All Venturing Potluck was held where wonderful food was consumed.  After clean-up we commenced with the WLACC Venturing Roundtable and Teen Leader's Council meeting.   We added seven to our attendance list for the meeting including five from Crew 1371 and two from Crew 3712!  At the Roundtable we planned our next two Council activities, a beach day at Leo Carrillo Beach St Park in June and a Rock Climbing day next Fall.

To start our Council activities on the direction towards being "youth run" we elected a slate of interim officers for a new WLACC Teen Leader's Council (TLC).  These youth will help plan the next outings and will pull together a draft By-Laws for the TLC by the next Roundtable to be held in connection with the Beach Day.  Out new officers are:
