PAST WLACC VENTURING EVENTS
A brief summary of our history as a Venturing
council is included below
(reverse chronological
order):
March
29-30, 2003 TLC Sponsored VLSC at the Pardee Sea Base
VLSC (Venturing Leadership Skills Course) Training put on by
the TLC then a great BBQ cooked up by Crew 223. Finally a
trip to Dock Weiler beach for a final bonfire. Stayed
at Pardee the night then home.
Dec
2002
2nd Biennial WLACC Venturing Picnic
Held at Woodley Park. The crews gathered a picnic and
for a day of fun, games and socializing.
February
2002 1st Annual Venturing
Recognition Dinner and Party
Sponsored by Crescent Bay District/Crew 223 at the Lodge at Camp Josepho 75 Venturers, Sea scouts and Leaders honored Silver, Ranger, and
Quartermaster award recipients. The Council’s first presentation of the
Venturing Leadership Awards was made to 5 youth and 3 adults. The catered dinner
was a fantastic meal of TriTip, Beef & Pork Ribs and BBQ Chicken! No one
left hungry. After the recognition ceremony was a fun evening of dancing, movies
and PARTYING! A few of us brought our sleeping bags and made it a night, waking
to a wonderful breakfast.

October 2001 BIG BEAR
"VENTURING ADVENTURE"
sponsored by the
Balboa Oaks District Youth Venturing Leaders
Activities at the event: Rock Climbing, Sailing, Canoeing, Fishing, Hiking, Camping
& Rifle Range.
June 2001 All Council Venturing/Sea Scout
Campout/Beach Day
at Leo Carrillo Beach St Park. Several Crews got together and reserved
campsites at the Leo Carrillo beach campground, then on Saturday the rest of the
crews came by and had a fantastically fun day. Activities during the
included Swimming, surfing, volleyball, sandcastle building, soaking in the sun
and a free-for-all water fight with water balloons, super-soakers and
more. After dinner they all got together and had a Dutch Oven Dessert
Cook-Off. Crew 39's Dutch Oven Candy-Bar compote was voted the best, but
the others (including a Crème Brule believe it or not) were very close
behind. At the short WLACC Venturing Roundtable that followed it was decided
to have a Rock Climbing event in the Fall and a Venturing Party/Dance in the
Winter.
March 2001 A Convergence of Crews
Venturing Leadership Skills Course and
Adult Venturing Basic Training was held at Camp Josepho, with
24 youth and 13 adult ending up trained! All had a terrific time. A
pot luck dinner in the lodge followed the training. At the WLACC Venturing
Roundtable after dinner an initial slate of the WLACC TLC (Teen Leader's
Council) was elected!
Special thanks goes to the youth staff who completely let the
VLSC training, Stephen S, Danny R, Stephanie B, Charles deV, and Stephen
V. The weekend wouldn't have been the same without you!

Annual Sailing Symposium
Held Each year at Pardee Sea Base, Marina Del Rey - Put on by the San Fernando Valley
Yacht Club for Venturing Crews, Varsity Teams and Explorer Posts. Includes
on-the-water sailing instruction, around-the-buoy racing in Santa Monica Bay and
an evening BBQ
